Unless you have an Amazon product of some description, the Amazon App Store is likely to be your second port of call. Let's face it, your first thought as an Android user is going to be Google Play.
Other download sites are available, for sure. But the Amazon App Store is, for most people, going to be playing second fiddle unless they have a product that runs the Amazon-flavored Android operating system.
And that's a shame because the Amazon App Store has a lot to offer that's not Alexa or Firestick-related. Read on to find out what you are missing by letting the Amazon App Store drop off your radar.
For Firestick and Kindle Fire owners, among others, the app is pre-installed on a range of Amazon products already. However, if you've got an Android phone, you can download the Amazon App Store app directly from Amazon.
You won't find it on Google Play or the App Store. Every other Amazon app, just not that one. The Amazon app was pulled in 2014 when it was realized it effectively contained the app store. It took some time for the rival app stores to notice the `hidden' store within the app. Since they don't host apps that replicate what they do themselves, i.e., sell games and apps, the decision was made by Google Play and the App Store to remove Amazon's cheeky app from their shelves.
