The Amazon Prime Video app brings the premier streaming service to your smartphone or tablet for watching your fav films and tv shows on the go.
You can watch movies, tv shows, dramas, and sport on a mobile device wherever you have a connection. Or offline if you download videos beforehand.
The number one question, though, is, do you need an Amazon Prime membership to use the app?
And the answer is no. You can buy or rent a wide selection of content from the Prime Video catalog without an Amazon Prime or Prime Video subscription.
When you buy from the Prime Video Store, your purchases are automatically billed to your one-click payment method. When the purchase goes through successfully, you view the content in Purchases and Rentals.

If you are in the US, the app allows you to follow your favorite movie stars and directors. You will then receive notifications for any videos featuring them when they go live on Prime Video.
Another extra is the ‘behind-the-scenes’ videos from movies and TV shows with exclusive X-Ray access. Availability, however, depends on your market. So too does the availability of new movie titles and TV shows.
However, there are no free lunches with Amazon. Amazon Prime Video is lumped in with your $120 per year Amazon Prime membership. So Prime Video, for the most part, is ‘free’ in that sense. However, you may still be asked to stump up the cash for some titles.
The other option is to take out at $9 per month Amazon Prime Video membership.

The Prime Video app is compatible with mobile devices operating on Android and iOS and Amazon devices, games consoles, streaming media devices, and Blu-ray players.
You can install the app from, among others, Google Play, Apple’s App Store, and the Amazon App Store.
When first opened, the app wants you to register your device on the Amazon website. Select Register, and you will receive a code and details of where you must enter this.
Some devices may show an option to sign in using your Amazon account information.
The Android app requirements vary by device. To use the app on an iOS device, you need 136.6 MB of free storage space and iOS 12.1 or later.
To watch on Apple TV, you need tvOS 11.1 or later (Apple TV third generation or newer and to download the dedicated tvOS app requires
You can also set up parental controls for the app. You can set viewing restrictions based on age and apply them to individual devices.
