Some eight years ago, Hotmail was finally killed off and replaced by the Microsoft Outlook platform. The change was made, hoping that the new platform would be better able to take on Gmail.
Outlook is, then, a mature email platform, and you can use it on your Android or iOS devices.
If you have never liked Gmail - and many come into that category - Microsoft Outlook is a great alternative option.
Indeed, Microsoft Outlook does a splendid job of keeping users connected, protected, and in touch with email, calendar, and files. All in all, it’s an excellent tool and much more than merely an inbox with whistles and bells.
One particular innovation that has been warmly received is the Focus Inbox feature that filters all your important emails to the top.
Aliases for Outlook
Microsoft announced it would enable email to be sent via alias addresses from the Outlook for Windows client.
The news came via the Microsoft 365 roadmap. The entry stated the proxy email address would be preserved in the From and Reply-To fields.
The feature was to be rolled out in this year for Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the Web. There was no specific mention of the Outlook mobile app.
Secures your email, files, contacts, and calendar in one place
Connects with Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote
Stores Office docs locally, on OneDrive, and other cloud storage
Create and join video calls in Teams, Zoom, Webex, and BlueJeans
Email management
Spam protection
The Outlook app brings you all the power of the email client to your smartphone. You can, just the same, collect together all your email accounts and calendars in one handy place.
The much-acclaimed Focused Inbox gives users a smart inbox. The feature sorts out what messages require a response and pins them to the top. Everything else, like subscriptions, newsletters, etc., gets filtered further down the running order.
You will also love swiping to quickly delete, archive, and schedule messages. Not to mention the single tap required to share your meeting availability and set up meeting times.
The recently overhauled search broadens the experience to include searching for files, contacts, and forthcoming trips.
But the one thing that is guaranteed to please everyone is the compatibility with other cloud storage providers such as OneDrive and Dropbox. You can view and attach files from them or your email without first downloading them to your device.
Rather neatly, you can open Office document attachments and edit them in their respective apps and re-attach the edited docs to an email.
