The Wetherspoon app enables you to order food and drink via your smartphone and have it delivered to your table without having to stand in a queue or lose your table. You can pay for your order too from your table via debit and credit card, JCB, American Express, PayPal, Google Pay, or Apple Pay.
The app, which you can download from Google Play and Apple’s App Store, has been installed over a million times. It can be used on all Wetherspoon properties for food and drink orders and book a hotel stay.
The app is useful for when a Wetherspoon is busy, or you don’t want to leave your kids unattended. It’s handy too if you are a distance from the bar in a beer garden or upper floor or have a big drinks order you don’t want to carry.
Due to the UK’s current COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, all Wetherspoon pubs and hotels are closed until further notice. It’s not yet clear when the UK government will sufficiently relax the restrictions to allow the hospitality sector to reopen. The UK currently has the highest COVID-19 death rate in the world.

JD Wetherspoon called on UK politicians to take a fresh look at lockdowns, pointing out that at that time, Sweden, with no lockdown, had fewer deaths per capita than the UK.
Adjusting for population size (the UK has more than 6.8 times the Swedish population), the UK’s fatality rate in the latter part of 2020 was more than double that of their Nordic neighbor.
The pub giant also stated that there did not appear to be a close relationship between COVID-19 deaths and population density. They cited Singapore and Taiwan as examples of two highly densely populated countries with low COVID mortality rates.
Wetherspoon chairman Tim Martin commented that given the huge job losses in the UK, it was time to have a proper debate on lockdowns. Rather than “reliance on politicized government propaganda.”

About Wotherspoon in brief
Wetherspoon traces its roots back to a converted bookies shop chairman Tim Martin’s opened as his first pub in north London’s Muswell Hill area in December 1979. For the first month, it was known as Martin’s Free House before adopting Wetherspoons in early 1980.
In the decades that followed, Wetherspoon became renowned for converting buildings into pubs and a chain of properties in the UK and Ireland.
The Wetherspoon app was first launched in 2017 to make dining at their pubs a more comfortable, family-friendly, and relaxing atmosphere.
The minimum recommended age for the Wetherspoon app is 17, as there are references to alcohol and tobacco.
