Thanks to its military-grade encryption, the instant messaging app, Telegram is now one of the world’s most downloaded apps.
With over 500 million users worldwide, the app is trusted due to its simplicity, speed, security, and ability to work seamlessly across devices.
Latest update brings auto-delete, home screen chat widgets, and time-limited links
The latest update of Telegram has added a stack of new features, including messages that self-destruct, easier access to chat, and invitation links that expire.
The update allows users to enable auto-delete to erase messages within 24 hours or seven days automatically. Unlike secret chats, the timer is tripped when the message gets sent, not read.
The new chat widget for the home screen includes a preview of chats for instant access to important messages.
A new type of invitation link has also been introduced that you can time-limit and/or give a set number of link uses.
Speed
Syncs across all your devices
File sharing without limits
Iron-clad security
Telegram is arguably the fastest instant messaging app around and one of the most secure. Its speed is down to its unique network of distributed data centers dotted around the world.
As the app is standalone and doesn’t need data all the time, it means you can type a message on your phone and finish it later at home on your tablet.
You can also send all types of files and media without limitations. And the other great news is that all your chat history is stored in the Telegram cloud, so you don’t need to set aside storage on your phone. And your files are accessible from any device.
But where Telegram distinguishes itself the most is in its encryption which is double encrypted and passed through a secure key exchange. Despite the heavyweight security and renowned reliability, Telegram still requires only a frugal amount of data.
And you needn’t think all this cybersecurity is at the expense of usability. Telegram is refreshingly simple and intuitive. The interface is clean and feature-rich.
You can set up a Secret Chat where messages are automatically destroyed on both devices for maximum security, and they don’t allow forwarding or screenshots. And as Telegram uses end-to-end encryption for Secret Chats, only the intended recipient can read your messages.
